Nikita Khrushchev
Nikita Khrushchev was a Soviet leader during the Cold War. He was quoted saying “We shall bury you,” to the West. He later revealed that what he meant by this statement was that capitalism was doomed and Soviet communism was the wave of the future. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was a leader in Russia. Towards the beginning of the Crisis, he planned to build many missiles to fire at America if they ever attacked. He had such missiles built, even though their numbers were far incompetent to the U.S armory. He eventually realized that the world would be better off without nuclear war and therefore proposed peaceful relations. He sent these conditions in a letter to the U.S government in which he proposed that if the U.S would not invade Cuba, the Soviet Union would dismantle and remove their missiles. Thus, he and President Kennedy together helped prevent the world's first full-scale nuclear war.
